Andrea Mandel-Mantello

Chief Executive and Partner, Corporate Finance

He established AdviCorp in 1997. In addition to managing the firm he is in charge of its corporate finance and M&A advisory activities. From 1991 to 1997 he was an executive director with SBC Warburg in London with investment banking responsibility for Italy and Israel and was also a member of the board of directors of SBC Warburg Italia SIM S.p.A. During that time he advised on numerous high profile and innovative transactions including Italy's first securitisation. He previously worked in the corporate finance departments of Chemical Bank International, London, of  Banca Nazionale dell'Agricoltura, Rome, during the period 1982-1988. He is a co-founder of IAG (Italian Angels for Growth), the leading Italian business angels' group and is a member of its board of directors. He received a Degree in Economics and Political Science from Yale University in 1981. He speaks Italian, English and French fluently in addition to having working knowledge of Spanish and German.


Marco Maximilian Elser

Partner, Capital Markets

He joined AdviCorp as a partner in 2002 where he set up its capital markets operation for which he is responsible. From 1994 to 2001, he was head of international market and credit institutions sales for Northeast Securities, New York. In this capacity, his activity consisted of supervising brokerage, sales and trading functions of securities (bonds, convertibles and shares) both for institutional and private clients. He was previously first vice president for Merrill Lynch Capital markets in Rome and London during 1984-1994. Before that he was head of international market sales for Kinetix Measurements, New York from 1981 to 1984. He received a Degree in Economics from Harvard College in 1981. He speaks English, Italian, French and Spanish fluently.

 

Léon Van Lancker

Managing Director, Corporate Finance

He has joined the firms corporate finance division in 2003.  He was previously with the private equity firm Investindustrial Ltd (formerly 21 Invest) from 1999 to 2003 where he was involved in investment activities and in fund raising . From 1989 to 1999, he was a director at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, where he was responsible for the banks corporate finance activities for Italy. He was involved in the acquisition of a leading Italian broker, Albertini & Co. SIM, in privatisation assignments and in cross border M&A transactions.  Previously, he was with the First National Bank of Chicago 1987-1988. From 1984 to 1986, he worked on financial transactions and international litigation with the law firm Chiomenti e Associati in Italy.  He received a degree in Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (1981) and an MA in International Relations and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Pennsylvania (1983).  He speaks Italian, French, English and Dutch fluently and he has a working knowledge of Spanish and German.

 

Jonathan Croft

Head of Capital Markets

Jonathan joined the Capital Markets division of Advicorp in 2003 and was appointed Managing Director in 2004. His previous experience included director of convertible bonds at WestLB and HSBC in London. He has eighteen years experience from both the buy and sell side of the equity derivatives markets. He has worked on primary deals ranging from high investment grade to small-cap private placements. As a result of his career working on Japan, Asia and Europe relative value trades he has a diverse global client base. At Advicorp he has worked on debt structure arbitrage, distressed debt, convertible bond arbitrage and high yield situations. Jonathan has a Batchelor’s degree in Engineering and a Master’s in Economics from London University.

 

Paolo Sabbadini

Senior Adviser, Corporate Finance

He recently joined the firm’s corporate finance division. He was previously with the Italian-Israeli commercial mediation firm MS Group, with responsibility for the firm’s M&A activity. In this role, he advised Israeli investors on sectors such as security & defense, renewable energy, investment funds and real estate. In 2006, he was a financial agent at the bank Cassa dei Risparmi di Milano e della Lombardia. In 2002 he was nominated Chief Operating Officer of a notable advertising and new media agency with offices in Turin, Rome, Milan and London. In 1990 he managed the family business being fourth generation of industrialist specialised in the printing industry. He studied Industrial Engineering at the “Institute of Production Engineering” in Tel Aviv and obtained a master in marketing at the European Institute of Design in Italy. In the past he seated on the boards of the Association of Printing Industry in Rome, of the Italian Association of Young Industrial Entrepreneurs and he was a member in the Commission of the International Relations of Confindustria, the Italian entrepreneur association.

 

Antonio Sfiligoj

Senior Adviser, Corporate Finance

He is an expert in technology-based companies and start-ups. He holds an Electronics Engineering (Ms) Degree from the University of Trieste and has a considerable track record in market analysis, strategy and business development for technology based firms (IT, semiconductors, nanotechnologies, renewable energies, engineering). He has worked as Programme Manager for the Innovation and Technology Management group at BATTELLE Geneva (subsidiary of Battelle Columbus, Ohio) and ZELTRON (R&D of Electrolux/Zanussi). As chief executive of Sviluppo Italia FVG, branch of the Italian Agency for Foreign Direct Investment and Enterprise Development, he has gained extensive direct knowledge of the Italian and EU "innovation ecosystem", i.e. keystone firms, research Centres, public institutions, science parks, incubators and hi-tech clusters. As chief executive of BIC FVG, a "EU best practice" business accelerator, he has contributed to launch and mentor approx. 30 new innovative ventures. Antonio is a co-founder of IAG (Italian Angels for Growth), the leading Italian business angels' group.
